Resident Electives

Residents can arrange international electives in Guatamala and Cambodia among other countries.

We offer a variety of elective opportunities for residents. Residents are granted up to 3 months of elective time, and can be on Away Electives the maximum amount of time allowed by the ACGME.

Residents often elect to do international electives and we have developed several sites where residents regularly go. Clinical experience in Guatemala can be combined with language training. We have residency elective contacts in other locations, including: Mexico, Cambodia, Thailand, Africa, and India.

Wilderness adventure is available in Yosemite Park.

Residents also use elective time to focus on clinical research. We have biostatistics and epidemiology resources available through UC Davis. Residents can present their research work at the Annual UCD Education Conference hosted in the Spring for all UCD Family Medicine Network residencies.
