Compensation and Benefits

Vacation: Four weeks. This is taken as two week blocks.

PG-I Salary: $45,219
PG-II Salary: $49,816
PG-III Salary: $55,224

Faculty and residents meet quarterly for journal club at a faculty home.

Stanislaus County Resident Contract: The current Memorandum of Understanding is available for viewing in the Stanislaus County Website. It is annually renewed and renegotiated every 3 years. Residents are members of the California Association of Interns and Residents Union.

Food: All meals at Doctors Medical Center's cafeteria are provided free.

Medical Insurance: Residents, like other Stanislaus County employees, choose from a number of health plan options: Kaiser, Blue Cross, National Health Plans and Pacific Care. Benefits extend to employee family members. In addition, Stanislaus County provides dental and vision coverage.

Relocation Stipends: $1,000 transition to residency gift will be awarded to all new residents by the Stanislaus County Health Services Agency Foundation, a non-profit organization who realizes there are many expenses involved with moving to a new area and preparing to begin residency.

Educational Stipends: PGY1: $1100, PGY-2: $1200, PGY-3: $1300 allotted for medical conference tuition, travel, books and other educationally related expenses. Three personalized medical jackets are provided.

Licensure Reimbursement: In addition, residents receive reimbursement for California Medical license fees during their training.

Deferred Compensation: Retirement non-taxable account to which both the employee and employer contribute.

"Sick Leave" Days: The County provides standard sick leave (including Maternity and Paternity Leave); however, RRC (Residency Review Committee) regulations stipulate that residents can only take 30 working days away from the program including vacation/conference time, without program extension.

Weekend Rounds: When not on-call on a weekend, the time is OFF, i.e., other residents/attendings see the in-house patients.

Moonlighting: Permitted for licensed second and third year residents up to a maximum of one night/week and one weekend/month, provided other responsibilities do not suffer. Exceptions may be approved by the residency director in special situations.

Parking: Free, close and easily accessible.

Emergency Transition Loans: Small loans are available for exceptional circumstances through the Health Services Agency Foundation.
