What's New
We have completely redesigned our curriculum in 2010 to embrace the future of Family Medicine Education! To reflect our new identity, we are expanding our program to ten residents per year, and updating our name to show our larger presence in the community.
We are moving toward an electronic curriculum which combines innovations in outcome documentation, such as Resident Portfolios and e-learning, with the traditional methods of verifying your training content, such as rotation evaluations, direct observations, and procedure counts.
Each resident will have a core set of minimum learning experiences, with the progress documented through a Residency Dashboard. In addition, each resident will have an individualized learning plan worked out in six month increments that will allow customized training in "Areas of Concentration", such as hospital medicine, obstetrics, geriatrics, GI procedures, women’s health, physician leadership, HIV care, global health or many other areas that can be sampled.
Residents will also document their program of mastery through a Resident Portfolio being piloted by our residency for the ACGME. Self-reflective narratives on successes and challenges will plot your growth as a physician in charge of your professional development and accomplishments. Eventually, residencies everywhere will use Portfolios to document residency training.
So we invite you to the future, starting in 2010.
